In the early 80's there was a host of coloured wing and body Tassie Devils in the range. Due to material availability and manufacturing constraints these have not been produced for many many years.
One colour that we were able to keep in the range was #36 "Yellow Wings". This lure was specifically used in the Snowy Mountains region of Australia at Lake Jindabyne and Lake Eucumbene in particular where it was gaining popularity as an almost guaranteed fish catcher.
Such was the popularity and reputation of the lure the range gradually expanded and today we have 10 colours in our Yellow Wing (YW) variety.
As I have already mentioned in the Snowy region the YW colours are undeniably the go to lures in the tackle box. Anglers here associated the colour with the juvenile 'Gold Fish' in the lakes, seeing it as a perfect imitation.
Over the past 5 years or so the YW lures have also started to see big jumps in sales in other parts of the world.
Here in our home state of Tasmania the Y48 has been very effective on Brown Trout at the iconic Arthurs Lake. And as TD Guru stated the Y82 is a great lure for pre-spawn trout inducing aggressive takes.
The New Zealand fishery is starting to embrace the YW lure also but not as much as the UK.
We are sending loads of YW with Ireland and Scotland in particular really discovering how good they are.
In Scandinavia the S12 "Sunburst" is a favoured lure for targeting large Atlantic Salmon. We have received many reports and photos of great Atlantics on this colour - they can't seem to resist them.
USA usage is also growing - although at present it seems to be spread out across the range. But gathering from the amount being ordered it would seem that news of the success of these lures is far and wide.
Plenty of orders from the Mammoth Lakes region.
Best of luck with the fishing.
Please send through your photos or better yet jump on the forum and add a story and a picture or two from your recent trips. It would be great for us and the other anglers world wide to read.
